Homemade baklava is a labor-intensive dessert for holidays, weddings and large family tables in Karabuk. Thin hand-rolled sheets are layered with walnuts, baked with butter and finished with syrup. Its handmade pastry and walnut-rich filling distinguish it from commercial sweets.

  • Tereyağı

Recipe

    Knead baklava dough with flour, egg, water and a little oil; divide and rest.

    Roll the sheets very thin with starch.

    Layer in a tray with walnuts between layers.

    Pour melted butter over and bake until golden.

    Finish with warm syrup made from sugar, water and lemon.
